Home post

I'm snuggled up on our couch waiting for dinner guests to arrive listening to Julie London. Today's consisted of cleaning and tidying and running errands. We also had a few people drop by for some things we listed on Freecycle, which is a glorious website. In general, though, we've just cleaned since we got back from our travels. We're suitably exhausted still. I've also found a new love for cooking.

Anyways, onto more travel related things.

Next summer, my friend Maria and I are planning a monthlong Europe Interrailing trip. It's going to be pretty epic, and it's going to happen in June. We're in the planning stages now - seeing possible itineraries and how to get from country to country via rail. She has the Eurail pass, as she's not an EU resident, and I'll have the Interrail pass as I am an EU resident. This makes our lives a little bit hard because her pass excludes 10 or so countries that mine covers - things like the countries that were formerly Yugoslavia, and Poland - so this makes it very hard for us to get from Prague/Vienna to Athens, since you have to pay the section of the fares through countries that aren't covered. I've always wondered why this is - I'm not an EU citizen, and my passport has the same Schengen visa coverage as hers, however, because I'm a student in the UK, somehow I can visit 10 countries more easily than her. Oh well, one of life's mysteries - it's not like we could even do 30 countries in 30 days.

I would love ideas and suggestions and favourite places to go in Europe, if y'all have any.

Alright, I'm off to cook, now. Ta.

Finally, an update.

Sorry about the lateness of this post! I've been pretty exhausted and have been trying to get the house back into working order today. Today's just going to be a picture post of Braga, Portugal, and a couple from Luanda - my camera died, so I hadn't had the oomph to upload the pictures before I got it up and running again.

On with the show!
